When I first met Cody and Jerry, they were planning their first trip to Europe—a special journey to celebrate their engagement and immerse themselves in the culture. Little did they know, this trip would set the stage for how truly unique their wedding day would be, shaping both its look and feel in ways they hadn’t imagined.
How It Began
While Cody and Jerry were out exploring the sights of Paris, they found themselves drawn to the Eiffel Tower, inspired by the romantic idea of having a beautifully hand-drawn portrait to capture the moment. Soon, an eager artist approached them, brimming with excitement and enthusiasm to immortalize their experience. Without hesitation, Cody and Jerry agreed, eager to see how their special moment would be depicted. However, when the artwork was revealed, they were taken aback. Instead of a romantic portrait reflecting the beauty of Paris, they were presented with a wild caricature, featuring exaggerated, disproportionate features and outlandish hairstyles—certainly not what they’d envisioned.
But undeterred by their first experience, Cody and Jerry decided to give caricature art another shot when they visited Italy later that year. In Rome, they had the opportunity to work with a talented professional artist who created a caricature that was not only accurate but also full of charm and character. This new rendition captured their likenesses more faithfully, while still embracing the playful, exaggerated style that made it uniquely fun. This time, the caricature perfectly balanced their photo-realistic features with the whimsical spirit of the artform, restoring their faith in the delightful world of caricatures.
The Espresso Martini
When they showed me their first caricature from Paris, I knew we had to find a way to incorporate the sweetly hilarious memory into their wedding day. I helped them take the amusing artwork and transform it into a quirky memento—a paper wafer featuring the first, less-than-flattering caricature as the topper to their custom wedding cocktails. The exaggerated, “botched” drawing became a humorous conversation starter during their cocktail hour, perfectly fitting the playful spirit of Cody and Jerry’s travels. Now, whenever they sip their signature drink, they will be reminded of their Parisian adventure and the wild, unexpected journey through the world of caricature art.
with wild opulence and joy,
